Palestinian-American Youth Released After 270 Days in Israeli Custody

An Palestinian-American teenager after completing nine months in Israeli detention absent formal charges has been freed.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 during his detention in February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing on holiday from Florida under suspicion of rock throwing against settlement residents, allegations he repeatedly contested.

The US state department expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.

Now sixteen years old, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears visibly pale and thin, and experiencing medical problems contracted in captivity.

In a statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "immense relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.

"At this moment, we are focused on providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention necessary for his recovery following exposure to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances throughout his detention."

The state department said it would continue to provide consular support to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety for United States citizens"," it added.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers endorsed a document to US authorities and the administration, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, parent of four children operating an ice cream shop in Florida, previously claimed his son only confessed about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.

The father hadn't visited or communicated with his son following the detention, receiving updates exclusively regarding the treatment in detention through court documents.

He stayed absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary in the West Bank.

Additionally housing mature inmates, featuring prisoners sentenced regarding severe security violations including killings.

Approximately 350 Palestinian child security detainees detained within Israeli facilities, per correctional service statistics.

Many have never been charged and human rights groups, including UN bodies, document cases involving abuse and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, family representatives announced the family would also continue fighting seeking justice for their relative their cousin Sayfollah.

The dual national youth per medical officials died from beating by settlement residents following tensions in July.

At the time, the Israeli military said officials were investigating reports a Palestinian civilian had been killed.

Both young men were employed together within the family's frozen treats establishment in Tampa, Florida.

No indictments occurred regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We expect United States leadership to ensure our family's safety," family representatives emphasized.
